Announcement: Alpha Phi Delta National Fraternity's "Countdown to Centennial Celebration" in 2014! Bro. Anthony Carfang, Psi 1969 appointed Chairman of our Centennial Committee

Having been founded on November 5th 1914 at Syracuse University, our great fraternity will celebrate 100 years of Brotherhood in 2014. In an effort to ensure a successfully planned and executed celebration, the Fraternity's and Foundation's leaders have joined forces to create the Centennial Committee. Backed by the Fraternity's Executive Board and the Foundation's Board of Directors, we are empowering the committee to immediately start the planning process. In addition, we are pleased to jointly announce the appointment of Anthony J. Carfang, Psi 1969 to head up our efforts by becoming the Chairman of our Centennial Committee.

Tony will draw upon his many years of fraternal and professional experience in this new post. He matriculated at Duquesne University in 1969, where he pledged Psi chapter as a freshman, and served as the chapter's Treasurer and President. He is currently a member of Duquesne University's Board of Directors. After graduating, Tony went on to Northwestern University where he earned a Master's degree in business and ended up residing in Chicago with his wife Carol and their four children. Tony is currently is a co-founding partner at Treasury Strategies, Inc. a management consulting firm specializing in banking and corporate finance. He served Alpha Phi Delta as its Vice President and President from 1978-82. During his terms as national officer, he was instrumental in founding the Alpha Phi Delta Foundation to serve as a nonprofit fund-raising arm of the fraternity. In addition to his numerous personal and professional successes, we are looking to Tony for his unique perspective, having served the fraternity with distinction as our 37th National President and also as Chairman of the Foundation.

As the leader of our Centennial Celebration planning and implementation process, Tony will work directly with the Office of the National President and the Chairman of the Foundation to coordinate our celebration. Tony will also assume a lead role in recruiting members of the Centennial Committee which will fashion our action plan to maximize our celebration in 2014. As Alpha Phi Delta readies for its Centennial, we will look to the committee to ensure that we're prepared for the extra responsibilities associated with the activities and programs that will mark our Centennial year. We are fortunate to be able to tap Tony's skills at this critical point. He is a quintessential example of what permanent activity and support means and we are extremely grateful to have him part of our leadership team.
